HCHS Program at the Museum – Mick and the YMCA Swim Team

The Historical Society’s September program will be Kent Mick. Kent, a former member of the YMCA swimming team will be presenting a program about Glen Hummer and the Huntington YMCA swim team. Glen Hummer coached Huntington YMCA swim teams from 1933 to 1977 and was known as the pioneer of Open Water Swimming.
Kent was born and raised in Huntington and swam on the YMCA team from 1959 to 1966. He still swims in Masters competitions and has taught swimming for sixty years. Married for almost 57 years, Kent has two children, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. His hobbies beside swimming include making stained glass, rockhounding and making jewelery and oil painting.
